Endangered Species Studies and Conservation Plans
Ceres Associates prepares endangered species studies and conservation plans according to the specific needs of each project, taking into account varying local regulations. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was enacted to protect threatened species and the ecosystems upon which they depend. Once a species is listed as threatened or endangered, the ESA also requires that a “critical habitat” be designated for that species, including areas necessary to recover the species, since habitat loss is the primary threat to most species. Many states and municipalities have enacted specific, local legislation protecting endangered and special-status species, and Ceres Associates assists clients with local reporting requirements.
